Christmas gifts update

Well, Jenna loved her Twilight box and movies
Jason liked his clock. Didn't get a good picture, tho

Nick was sick on Christmas so I didn't see him until yesterday and didn't get any pictures but when he opened his Vikings glass block, he said, "Sweet"! So, I guess he liked it!
All in all, it was a great Christmas, anytime we have all the kids and grandkids together, it is all good! :)
Hope you all had a great Christmas and wishing you all a fabulous New Year!!!

The TWILIGHT box is done!!!

My 21 yr old daughter wanted all the Twilight movies for Christmas so I got them and thought it would be cool to make a box for them. But, I know NOTHING about Twilight so with a little help from some Cricut Message Board friends and my local LSS, this is what I came up with:
I started with a paper mache box purchased at Hobby Lobby
I painted it inside and out with a light brown acrylic paint

then I decorated. The top has a layer of torn script print paper from the K&Co. Lifes Journey stack. The letters and sillhoettes are from Cheri at CP's Scrapping. The sticker was sent to me by Samantha.

this is the front panel. It was really hard to cut around the hardware. I don't love it but....Oh well!

This is one of the sides

Other side

This is the back. More hardware to cut around!
Inside I put the three movies and a package of microwave popcorn. There is plenty of room for any future movies that come out!! So, what do you think? I would love to hear any comments. Good or bad!!
Merry Christmas, Everyone!!

We made the glitter otnaments!!

Wow! What a day. I had four of my grndkids come over today and they made glitter ornaments. 4 kids under the age of 10, I don't think I need to tell you,  I have glitter EVERYWHERE!! I had all 25 names cut out of vinyl for them to use. That was fun- trying to teach them how to burnish it real good! But they got the hang of it. Parker wasn't all that into it, he only made one, the one for his name. The other 3 had alot of fun. Then they were putting them on the tree and Sadie dropped one! So we cleaned up that mess and then Kourtney dropped one! OK- clean up again. Then I dropped one!!! So now, I have to make three more to replace them. It was no big deal and it did make the girls feel better when I did it too!! :) I didn't get any pictures of them making them, I was too busy helping them and getting wax in the next ones. But, all in all, it was fun!

The kids called these The pictures of Shame!!!

TRYING to get ready for Christmas

Well, we have a blizzard here in Iowa today so it is lookin g alot like Christmas! Maybe that will help put me in the mood more!
I am trying to get all the presents made or bought and wrapped. Our family is growing so fast, it is hard to keep up! Just 13 years ago, I was a single mother of 2 boys. Now, I have a husband, 6 stepdaughters and their two spouses, 10 collective grandchiuldren PLUS my teo boys and one fiance. Wow! We need a bigger house when we all get together!! My son is getting married next August so I am hoping that Christmas 2012, I will get a new baby to spoil!
4 of the grandkids are coming over tomorrow to decorate my tree. Twin boys, almost 10, a girl 9, and another girl 7. We are going to make glitter ornaments. I have one for each member of this huge mob, including the dogs and have cut all the names in vinyl. I can't wait. I ber I am more excited than the kids!!!
Those four LOVE my craft room. Parker is wowwed by the "stacks and stacks of paper". I put together a couple of big containers of craft stuff for them for Christmas. One has paper- white, colored and construction. The other one has glue sticks, markers, scissors and a ruler. I gave them all my decorative scissors since I never use them. Oh, I also gave them some punches. I decorated the containers with vinyl cuts . They turned out pretty cute. I know they will like them :)
Tomorrow I will have pictures of the ornaments we make. And the tree they decorate.

Really cool clock and some other stuff

I found this clock at Hobby Lobby. I bought it for my son. When I walked by it just screamed at me "Jason". You ever find gifts like that? I love it when I do. Anyway, I saw it and figured that since clocks were on sale the next week, I would wait and get it then. 3 days later, when the 50% off sale started, they were gone!!! But I got a rain check and had one ordered for me. I just love the odd, funky style of it. Reminds me so much of my oldest son!!

For my other son, I made this glass block with a Minnesota Vikings helmet etched on it. I glittered the inside with purple glitter. I wanted to put a light in it but it looks stupid so I am just leaving it how it is. I hope he likes it, even if his team is doing poorly this year!

A wonderful blogger named Brandy made the vinyl stencil for me. She did such a great job. Exactly what I wanted. You can see her work here:http://createdbybrandilynn.blogspot.com
Thanks Brandy!!

Then I had to make a birthday card for my granddaughter. I just got the gingerbread cartridge and wanted to play with it. It has some cute images on it. I am not totally happy with this card but it will work in a pinch.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We did. I am getting very tired of leftovers, tho. Except the pie. Can eat that everyday!!!
This is about all I have to post today. I am babysitting the grandkids tomorrow so I know I won't be doing any crafting. Maybe Wednesday before I go to work at 5 I will be able to play a little!!

I am sooo absent minded!!!

I just got done wrapping the Christmas presents I have done so far. I was happy to have that much done so I wouldn't have to do them all at once. But, as soon as I was done I realized I didn't take a picture of the mini album and the picture frame I made for my daughter!!! I was going to post them on here. Duh!!! When she opens them, I will remember to take pics. Or maybe I will unwrap them- who knows! Ugh! I am so mad at myself!!!

Busy weekend!!!

Whew! I will be glad when it is Monday!! That is my day off. Sunday and Monday makes it nice cuz I have one day at home with hubby and one day to myself!!Really didn't do any crafting this weekend. Work is getting busier at Hobby Lobby and I am pretty wiped out when I get home at night. Went to Kohls Friday night to get a gift for my granddaughters 1st birthday party today. That was fun, I got to see ALL of my grandkids at one time! That only happens on Holidays and birthdays. Then I went to WalMart and ordered my new glasses. They should be here in abput 6 days. I can't wait to be able to see again!!
Here are some pictures from the birthday party. Isn't she just a sweetie?

Hopefully I will get some crafting done tomorrow so I can put up some new projects!

Brother for sale!!

I just made this onesie for my granddaughter. Her 1st birthday party is next Sunday. When I was setting it up for a picture, I noticed it is kinda crooked. Ugh! I am so angry, but for a 1 year old, it will work. It will have to, I don't have enough time to get more iron on vinyl before next Sunday!! :(

I also took a picture of one of the cocoa holders I made today. The gingerbread men are my favorite!

Sorry, I know my pictures are terrible!!
I also did some sock cupcakes yesterday and here is one of them!

wow! The lighting is really bad. It is pink (the socks) and the wrapper is shiny sparkly dark pink.

Tomorrow when I can get some daylight, I will take pictures of my mini album!

Carrie

Been busy!

Wow! It has been awhile since I posted anything! I have been crafting, tho. I have been making a mini album for my daughter. t is made with pictures from the party we had for her in September. I am ALMOST done. I have to add some more glur on some of the pages and maybe some more embellishments. I have never made a mini like this before. It was fun but I wish mine would have turned out like the other beautiful ones I have seen on other blogs. I did realize one thing- good, quality paper makes so much difference. I used some K&Co. double sided paper for most of the pages and I LOVE it!
I have also been making some hot cocoa holders for the stockings. They turned out really cute.
I am trying to make a CD clock for my son, and a glass block light for my other son. I need a Minnesota Vikings logo for that and I don't have scal or mtc. If anyone reads this and has either one of those programs, I would be so happy if you could cut it for me. I could send you the image I want and the vinyl. Heck, I would even be willing to pay for it!!
I wiil post pictures later. My room is too much of a mess to take pictures now!! LOL
My weight loss thing hasn't been too successful. I didn't lose anything last week. We'll see what this Tuesday brings!
OK- check back tomorrow for pictures I am going to get busy cleaning this room!!

Unmounting stamps!

Ugh! I have spent the whole day unmounting my stamps and putting them in CD cases.
First, I had to empty the cases and put the cds in some slim cases I had. Then unmount them and sort them into categories and put them in the CD cases. Some of them need EZ Mount on them but I wil do that later. Now I have to make a sheet with all the stamped images from each case. That is another job for later! I have done enough for today!!! They will be easier to find now and take up much less room! My next project for my scrap room is going to be a holder for my ink pads. I have a pattern and directions for one made with foam board. I got some of that, now to just get it done!
It is so much work trying to organize everything when you have so much stuff. It is never ending, but I am chiseling away at it a little at a time.

went to Muchaels today

I don't have a Michaels here and I get so jealous hearing of all the great deals other people get at theirs. I get to go to one maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Well, today we had to go to Iowa City for a doctors appointment so I HAD to stop at Michaels. I got paid today so I was super excited. I had money and I had coupons I printed out last night!
What a bummer! I couldn't find anything I wanted that I couldn't get at Hobby  Lobby with my discount to make it cheaper!!!! I did get the ribbon loop Martha Stewart punch around the page set on clearance for $14.99 and some ribbon and a few other small things. All together, I spent $25.00!!!! And I forgot to use my coupon!! But I don't think it would have amounted to much because the only things that were regular price were $1.99 items. Oh, well, guess I get to shop at work tomorrow!!!!

It is Tuesday- time to weigh in!!

OK_ I weighed in this morning. 168! I lost 2 pounds and I gotta admit- I have beencheating quite a bit. If I really get serious, maybe I can lose 3 next week- or more! I found out the wedding will be next September so that gives me lots of time but with the holidays, I fully expect to not do too good! (atleast I am honest about it) But, even so, I think 45 pounds in 11 months is very do-able!

I just found out that my son got engaged tonight! I am so excited!! A couple of weeks ago, he bought the ring and brought it over to talk to me about it. Then, last week, he asked for her fathers approval and tonight he asked her!!! sniff, sniff, my baby is growing up!! The part that really excites me is soon there will probably be grandkids!! I already have 6 plus 4 step grandkids but I want some (atleast one) from each one of my six kids!! Now, it is D I E T time. I can't be this fat for my sons wedding!! And of course my husband brought home brownies and pumpkin bars from the Farmers Market tonight!! Well, this is it, I am starting in the morning!! NO more chocolate. My weight today is 170 pounds. I will post my weight every Tuesday and hopefully it will be less every week!! LOL  Wish me luck!!

Wedding frame gift

I almost forgot to post this!! First, it tried etching it on the glass. (the day before the wedding) and I broke the glass while cleaning it so I bought a new frame that night at work at Hobby Lobby (50% off + employee discount! Yay!!) So, that night, I figured I would just cut vinyl letters and stick them on the matting. Can't mess that up right? Well, I managed to. I spelled her name wrong!!!! There is no e in it! Duh!! So, we didn't leave the gift at the reception. I had to redo it. I didn't take pictures of that one tho. I really hope they use it. Sometimes I think it would be sooo much easier to buy a gift! But not as fun!

and here is a picture of the card I made them (of course I wrote her name wrong on the envelope!!)

I think that is all for today. I am sure I will have more in a couple of days. I am starting to work on my Christmas tags and cards

It has been awhile!! Halloween door hanger

I have been so busy, I haven't had time to post anything. Today was my day off and I made this for my daughter. A few years ago, my granddaughters and I made a Halloween wreath for her but when their basement got ert, it was ruined. Mary at Cardztv made this adorable door hanger today so it inspired me to make this for my daughter. Marys is much better, tho!! You can see it here http://www.cardztv.blogspot.com/

I am still here

It has been awhile since I have posted anything. I've been busy with my new job and getting used to working again! It is going good. I like it so far. But, man I need some new shoes, my feet hurt really bad when I get home. I have a wedding on Saturday and I am making an etched frame for the couple. I will post it when it is done. I am also working on my Christmas presents for my kids and grandkids. I obviously can't post any of them yet. Oh, maybe I will, I don't think any of my kids visit here anyway. So check back next week, I'll have some new projects up!

ANOTHER wreath!!!

OK, can you tell that I am really getting into making these? The first one I made last spring was inspired by Kathy from Paper Phenomenon. She made a gorgeous St. Patricks Day wreath with a cut file. So I made one for Easter, Spring, 4th of July and now we are into fall. This one is different. Not made entirly of paper but I think it turned out very nice. I gave this one to my friend Lisa and she loved it!

This one is made with things I bought at the Dollar Tree (gotta love that place!) The wreath, the fabric leaves and the ribbon were all $1 items!

what to do with all the cards

I went to see my grandma in the nursing home on Monday. She plays BINGO there. They get tickets for each bingo they get. Each ticket is worth 10 cents. They don't have very good prizes that she likes and I am sure the others feel the same way. My grandma is getting quite a colection of beanie babies she buys with her tickets. Anyway, I had a thought. How about I give them some of my cards for BINGO prizes? So, today, I am taking up some Halloween cards. Maybe next week I'll do some all occasion cards. I hope they will like them. You know how old ladies like to send cards and letters! Oh, and yesterday at work at Hobby Lobby, we were unwrapping some ornaments to put out on display and I scored these wonderful bags that they came in. Perfect size for an A2 card!!! Anyway, here is a pic of the Halloween cards. More to come next week!!!

Halloween card

I get bats in my house. They gross me out and scare the dickens out of me. My grand daughter Sadie was here when we had a visitor one night. She was totally FREAKED out. I always tease her about it and I made this Halloween card for her

another gift for my daughters birthday

This is another gift for my daughter. The last few years, all my gifts have been hand crafted. One year, I made quilts for all the grandkids. Then, the next year, quilts for all 6 kids. This year, I am making a quilt for my dad and everything else will be paper crafts of some sort. This is another gift for my daughter on Saturday.

I have a follower!!!!!!

Wow, I am so surprised. I haven't told ANYONE that I started a blog and I have a follower and comments!! Guess I better get busy posting some projects, huh? Today I made a small notebook for my daughter. It is to list all her user names and passwords in. Sometimes it is easy to get confused and forget them. Anyway, we are having a birthday/ tumor free party for her next Saturday. (she has cancer and her last scan showed no tumors!!!!!!!! The kind she has is pretty bad, it will probably come back so all we can do now is pray and celebrate the good news!)
Anyway, here is the book. I was working on a couple of other things but I'll post them another time.

September 11 card

I made this card for a challenge on My Pink Stamper. She challenged us to make something for all the people who serve us. And to remember them on this historic day. I threw this together pretty quickly and I want to send it to a soldier.

Birthday card for my dad

I saw this stamp when Dawn made a card with it on Dawn's Stampin Thoughts and I knew it would be perfect for my Dad. The stamp is from My Pink Stamper-Family and Friends set. I haven't done anything to the inside yet. I like it. Kourtney thought it was cool. Hopefully Dad will like it!
